What is Attack on Titan?

Faced with a world entirely dominated by Titans, humanity has built massive walls, exchanging its freedom to travel beyond them for protection against further invasion. Attack on Titan is a dark fantasy on a grand scale depicting the battle between the Titans and humanity, particularly Eren Jaeger, a young boy who yearns for the unseen world beyond the Walls. The series first began serialization in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2009. It was adapted into an animated television series in 2013, and its third animated season began airing in July 2018. As of December 2018, 27 collected volumes of the series have been released in Japan, with a total print run of over 78 million copies, making it a flagship title among the entire world of Japanese comics. Its popularity has now spread across the globe, and a Hollywood film adaptation has been announced.
